With over 200 books to her name chances are you've already come across Julia Donaldson, most likely via her more famous Gruffalo or the wonderful BBC adaptations of her works with renowned illustrator, Axel Scheffler.
While I love reading about mouse's adventures in the deep dark wood, Zog's antics with Princess Pearl or finding out if there is in fact room on the broom, Paper Dolls is far and away my favourite of Donaldson's works.
The Sunday Times described this as a book that 'gets richer every time you look at it' and I don't think you can sum it up much better than that. The Paper Dolls is a beautifully crafted story about imagination, the passing of time, and the beauty of memories, told through the story of a girl playing with some paper dolls and her own journey through life. Award-winning illustrator Rebecca Cobb's thoughtful and touching illustrations make for a magical and heart-warming read. This is a great book to use when helping little ones process transitions, times of change or loss, or simply as a calming and enjoyable bedtime story.
I have loved sharing this book with my children, and it's also one of my most gifted children's books. I hope you enjoy it too!
